Flipkart, Google Launch Hagglebot to Let You Bargain During the Big Billion Days Sale

The Flipkart Hagglebot will notably work on all devices supporting Google Assistant
Alongside bringing various attractive deals during the Big Billion Days Sale, Flipkart has partnered with Google Zoo, the creative think tank for agencies and brands, to offer a voice-based experience for customers to bargain during the forthcoming sale. The partnership will provide a Flipkart Hagglebot on Google Assistant that will let customers negotiate for different products listed on the online marketplace directly using their voice. The Bengaluru-based e-commerce company will release two new products every day during the sale, and at the end of each day, a “Boss” will be crowned, based on their negotiation skills and how good a bargain they drive.
“Bargaining is a deep-rooted part of our culture and we have now integrated that with the convenience of online shopping. We hope our customers will have a great time with this unique, rich and immersive experience,” said Kartikeya Bhandari, Head of Brand Marketing at Flipkart, in a joint press statement.
Once the Boss will be selected, the deal they secure on each item will then become the price of that product for everyone in the country, while the winner will get the product for free. Also, Flipkart has said that limited-edition deals would be available exclusively through the Hagglebot’s artificial intelligence (AI) based platform. The Hagglebot will notably work on all devices supporting Google Assistant, including the Jio Phone, Android and iOS devices, as well as Google Home.
“We worked very closely with Flipkart to develop an immersive voice-based experience that dives people into a haggling scenario as if they were at their local market. Built with DialogFlow on Assistant and powered by Google Cloud Platform, we’re able to make use of Google’s Natural Language processing and Machine Learning expertise. This means the Flipkart Hagglebot experience should feel very natural and respond quickly across a large range of devices. We hope Flipkart customers and users will love this next-generation voice experience,” said Gene Brutty, Creative Director, Zoo, Google APAC, in the statement.
